The Shabby Tea Room #55 & JUSTRITE CHALLENGE #51

***  Don't forget to join me next month at The Shabby Tea Room where I will be Guest Designing with the crew for the whole month of April!

I just couldn't resist doing The Shabby Tea Room challenge this week.  It had such a beautiful inspiration photo and it worked in nicely with the JustRite Challenge: Act of Kindness!  Here is the inspiration photo we had to work with:
I first noticed the headboard and I thought of a great idea to mimic the details in it.  I stamped a piece of white cardstock with several birds from JustRite Backyard Birds 3-1/4" centers in green ink and then cut with Spellbinders Labels Thirteen.
This made the perfect backdrop for my JustRite Kindness Cling set that coordinates with Spellbinders Labels Twenty.  Here's how it turned out:
I stamped with green ink onto light blue cardstock to mimic the pillow in the photo and added Prima flowers to match those in the vase on the nightstand and the light blue polka dot paper like the bedspread.  The border punch is Martha Stewart Scallop Dot Edger Punch like nice sheets on the bed.  Here's a close-up of the details in the center stamps:
JustRite stamps are absolutely my favorite things mixed with Spellbinders dies.  So glad they are teaming up to sponsor some challenges at TSTR!

MY SHERI CRAFTS CHALLENGE #50 - SPRING

Had a very busy week this week!  Some of you may have read my previous post about the loss of our little girl Shih Tzu last week.  Well, we made a little addition to our family and they have been such a delight!    They are a Maltese/Shih Tzu (Malt-Shi) mix and 12 weeks old.  Here is their debut photo the day we bought the little boys Bogart - the black one (because he takes everything) and Snickers - the tan one (because DH thought he looked like a snickerdoodle cookie):

AREN'T THEY ADORABLE !!!

They made themselves right at home! LOL

OK, now on with why we're REALLY here!  Not my favorite, but I got it in before the MY SHERI CRAFTS CHALLENGE started anyway??

The paper is DCWV and the sentiment is JustRite Stampers Seeds of Kindness 1-5/8" center.  I added a little color with my COPICs and popped it on a Martha Stewart pre-cut doily.  The gemstone flourish and butterfly are Recollections.

****** ATTENTION ******

Don't forget to "FOLLOW" me because I will be Guest Designing over at The Shabby Tea Room the whole month of April.  If I get enough followers next month, I will give away a surprise package from MY SHERI CRAFTS worth over $50!!  I will post the details later.

MY SHERI CRAFTS CHALLENGE #49 - MONOCHROMATIC

This week has been a rough week for me as I've had to say goodbye to my favorite (and only) little girl in the house.  She was my 5-1/2 yr old Shih Tzu and the best dog ever!  It was very sudden so I'm still having a rough time.  It's amazing how attached you can get to those little guys?!?

I wanted to color something and I had these new stamps from JustRite Mother Nature's Gifts 3-1/4" set and picked one of the flowers to color and match the new DCWV paper I got last week at Ms.  Coloring with my COPICs always makes me feel better.
I used a couple Martha Stewart punches and a pre-made doily cut circle.  The larger accent is from my new Spellbinders Parisian Motifs that I just got yesterday.

JustRite Friday Challenge #50 - Birthday Card & Envelope

I've had a lot going on lately but I needed a quick birthday card so I created this with the JustRite Friday Challenge in mind.  It is for a boy so I couldn't really do all the frills and bling that I usually like to do but I think it worked out pretty well??  I used a JustRite Variety Borders 2" for the fun striped frame around my JustRite Just A Note 1-5/8" center and colored them both with my COPICs

I lined the envelope with the same coordinating paper.

EVA'S BUTTERFLY BLOG LINKY PARTY

I was SO excited to see that Eva was having a Butterfly Party Hop.  She has some great giveaways but mostly my motivation is to just show you some of my favorite cards to make.  I have to admit that I have made probably over a hundred of these and they are some I get requests for all the time.  I use feather butterflies found in the floral department at HL but you can find variations of these in many places.  Here is one set of multi-colored butterflies:

Aren't these some fun colors!?!  Sometimes they have them in a set of only one color but I like to mix it up a bit.  Here is just some examples of the many cards I've made.

So quick and simple!  I always have some on hand for that last-minute card for any occasion.  These probably wouldn't be bast for mailing but they are so pretty and life-like in person that everybody loves them.  It just shows you that you can make cards from all different types of supplies and you don't have to only look in the scrapbooking isles!  There's still time to link your butterfly creations so hurry over to Eva's blog here.  TFL!

CR84FN18 & JOAN'S GARDENS CHALLENGE

This was a different color challenge this week at CR84FN and I really had a lot of fun with it!  Here is the photo inspiration for this week's challenge:
Isn't it gorgeous!!  I really want one of those cupcakes!  hee hee!
I started with this beautiful paper from K & Company and added it to a kraft card.  I just love the flowers on it!  The tones in my card are little more muted than the inspiration photo but still the same concept!  I added a rhinestone flourish and punched a few butterflies out with my Martha Stewart punch
The tag is stamped with JustRite Fancy Tags cling in Ranger Wild Honey Distress Ink and cut with a tag from Justrite Happy Everything Mini Tag set.  The sentiment is also from this set and stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black.  A tiny yellow flower accented with some more ink and a little yellow bow.

I'm also excited to hear that my favorite stamp company, JustRite Stampers, is sponsoring the challenge at Joan's Gardens!!  There's still a little time to get your entry in for her awesome prize!  JustRite Stampers have the greatest collection of stamps, custom dies and Spellbinders compatible stamps and are on my list of definite must-haves......check them out!

MY SHERI CRAFTS CHALLENGE #47 - MARDI GRAS

This week was definitely a different challenge for us at MY SHERI CRAFTS blog!  I had intended on getting some elements done but sometimes life just gets in the way.  So here's what I got done this week:

I made his and hers masks to wear at a Mardi Gras themed cookout next week.  I probably will add a few more embellishments before the actual party but I don't think it's a bad start.  Here is what they looked like before:
I picked up this pack of 8 masks at Dollar Tree and the beads.  I thought they need some enhancing so I gathered up my ribbon and cut some of the beads to embellish the sides of the mask.
The ladies mask (the purple one) has a stick to hold it up to the face but the guys mask (the green one) just has the elastic cord and some gathered gold ribbon across the top.  A few feathers and glue and we're all set for the festivities.  Hope you enjoyed this simple project!  Also posted to RAINBOW LADIES CHALLENGE for masks.

JustRite Friday Challenge #49 & The Shabby Tea Room #51

Another great technique challenge over at the JustRite Challenge!  This time we were supposed to use the "direct to rubber" technique.  Instructions can be found on their blog post.  I decided to mix the colors from The Shabby Tea Room challenge for my design.  I used a little more black than the actual inspiration photo but I just couldn't do so much white today??
Sometimes I know what I want to make and sometimes I don't. This seemed to fall in the latter category?? I just received this new stamp, JustRite Friendship Blooms Cling set, and thought it would look great with the two-tone look I wanted to achieve.  Here is what I came up with for these challenges:
I applied Momento Lady Bug Red first and then used a random black gel pen for the corners and sentiment.  (This technique is not very forgiving and I did it a couple times before I was happy with the result but still an interesting thing to try if you haven't done it before.)  I cut with Spellbinders Labels One and also again with a bigger die in black for a frame.  I popped it on a piece of white cardstock that I ran through my Cuttlebug and embossed with QuicKutz Lines and Dots. (It's hard to see in the photo??)
The flowers are Prima and I accented them with the same red ink as the stamp.  The buttons are standard black buttons and I added dew drops to the center for a more formal look.  The satin red ribbon and the rhinestone flourish were scraps that I always have lying around.
