JustRite Friday Challenge #112 - Color Inspiration

Well, the holidays are over and it's time to start back up the challenges over at JustRite Inspiration so I have a great color challenge for you!
OK, sometimes people ask me how I come up with the designs on my cards. I hate to admit it, but I pretty much just wing it most of the time and this card is a perfect example of having NO IDEA this would turn out this way when I started! The only thing I knew was that I wanted to use JustRite Grand Thank You Sentiments cling stamps. Next, I picked a beautiful floral paper to match the color inspiration photo from Graphic 45 Twelve Days of Christmas (Yes! Christmas!) and then decided to cut with Enchanted Labels Twenty-Eight 5" x 7" die.

After that, it is pure trial and error - LOL! Sometimes I cut several different colors of a particular die OR change my mind about which die I am going to use so I have a little stash of my "rejects" and eventually I will use one for something. I wanted to use some of the dies that are being offered as prizes this week so I cut one of the larger Decorative Labels Twenty-Eight in red and then the Delicate Doilies in white. I was going to use one of the larger sentiments in the Grand Sentiments set but ultimately chose to stamp a smaller one onto one of the Vintage Labels Seven dies.  wasn't happy with those so I added a kraft small Decorative Labels Twenty-Eight and then thought it needed more color so I added a turquoise Vintage Labels Seven cut. The luxurious silk ribbon and flowers are from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

I hope you have time to stop by and try the JustRite Friday Challenge or at least check out the entries!

As soon as I saw the paper on your card, I laughed...I love that G45 paper and I had bought the pad when it first came out. I was afraid to cut it (too pretty and I did not want to screw it up) so I bought some extra single sheets of it. You described your trial and error process and all I could think was 'I hope she did not scrap any of the paper'! LOL.

Beautiful card! Have fun at CHA. :)

I enjoyed your description! Sounds familiar - hmmmm....
The end result is SO pretty - it is gorgeous paper, too.
Thank you for the comments on my card. Actually, with that card, I now have a little stack of rejects ready to use with the next Opulent Ovals use!
