MY SHERI CRAFTS CHALLENGE #42 - ASIAN / CHINESE NEW YEAR

WOW, was this a tough challenge?!?  I'm not very pleased with how this turned out but it's still good to step outside my safety zone once in a while!  At MY SHERI CRAFTS blog, we could do either Chinese New Year or an Asian themed project.  I chose more of an Asian route.  I started with a white card base and then added a black border on top.  The next piece was inked using my Cuttlebug.  I used the Cuttlebug Oriental Weave 5" x 7" folder included in my Asian Bundle.  I dabbed my Momento Rhubard Stalk ink pad all over it and then smoothed with my brayer to take out any globs.  Then I ran through the Cuttlebug and it gave a nicely patterened color wash to the debossed areas of the paper.
Next, I embossed a Spellbinders Metal Sheet with Cuttlebug Kimiko 5" x 7" folder (also in that bundle).  I trimmed around the geisha and then sanded the embossed areas with my Tim Holtz sanding block to slightly reveal some of the silver metal beneath.
The kanji means "LOVE" and I used Cricut Pagoda cartridge to cut out of black cardstock.  I hope you will try this challenge with us and see what you can come up with!

I love the embossing you did. And the sanding also was a great touch to the card. This is a very pretty Asian card. I love your challenges.
