Glenda's Rose Challenge
One of my cyber friends, Glenda, is hosting the challenge by Bitten By The Bug 2. The challenge is to add a rose to your project using ANY Cricut cartridge. I found a great rolled rose on the Art Philosophy cartridge by Close To My Heart. I made the roses (9 of them) in 3"-4" sizes to fill my 12" x 12" sheet of red card stock. Then, I stewed for several days trying to decide what to do with them?!! I was looking for something in my craft room and found this kraft chipboard box that I've had AT LEAST 2 years and thought maybe I could alter it.
I started by covering the base with green double-sided card stock from Echo Park Essentials pack. The top already had the cut-outs so I knew it would be impossible to cover with paper so I just took my green chalk ink pad and started blotting it until I achieved the colored I liked. The edge was covered with a green satin ribbon to finish off the edge.
I started by cutting cream card stock with Grand Labels Twenty-Three and inking the edges for the base. This was just made from scraps, a chipboard flourish and leaves cut with Spellbinders Foliage die. The sentiment is also from a retired set by JustRite Papercraft, cut with Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three and layered with coordinating Want2Scrap Nestabling. Here is the whole set:
I am SO GLAD Glenda let me know about this challenge because I hardly ever use my Cricut anymore and I have never made roses like this! What a fun challenge!!

I also cut 2 branches from the same cartridge with the same card stock. I used some of each side to add color and also blend with the bottom. I added a gold feather butterfly (one of my favorite things from the floral department at Hobby Lobby) for that unexpected pop of color. A lovely sentiment from JustRite Papercraft Botanical Butterflies clear stamp set floats on top. I had a few extra roses left over so I decided to make a card as well.
